This year we had a wide range of topics to discuss – from Bollywood to Hollywood. Beginning with Kanye’s social attack against his ex-wife Kim Kardashian and her boyfriend Pete Davidson, Amber Heard and Johnny Depp followed two months of long court drama, and then Kanye again for anti-Semitic statements.
Other topics that got the audience – Will Smith’s horrendous slap to Chris Rock in the Oscar comedy scene, to BTS’ military, Ranveer Singh baring all and of course, Aamir Khan’s most awaited movie “Laal Singh Chaddha” getting tanked.
As this year comes to an end, here is a look at all the news that happened in the world of showbiz.
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard
The Amber Heard and Johnny Depp scandal is one such dramatic and sordid incident that will be remembered for years. Johnny Depp has filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife Amber in Fairfax, Virginia.
During the trial of the case, which ran for six weeks, the former spouses revealed some of the strange and terrible things that happened between them behind closed doors.
After a two-month long trial, seven jurors sided with Depp, agreeing that Amber’s 2018 Washington Post op-ed defamed the actor.
After Depp agreed, the court ordered the actress to pay $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages, which was reduced to $365,000. On the other hand, the Court of Auditors was awarded $2 million for compensatory damages.
After a months-long battle, Audi recently agreed to pay $1 million to Depp.

A lot has happened in the life of BTS this year. In a shocking move, the seven boy band have announced that they are going on hiatus to focus on their solo careers and will return together as a boy band in 2025.
Their movement was the least reported when the children’s military activities were the most debated.
In October, the management company of the k-pop boy band confirmed that they will perform for their country’s military.
“BIG MUSIC is proud to announce today that the members of BTS are now moving forward with their plans to fulfill their military service.” “After a phenomenal concert to support Busan for the World Expo 2030, and as individual projects are being undertaken solo, it is the perfect time and the members of BTS are honored to serve,” the music company shared in a statement.
In December, Jin, the oldest boy in the group, finally got drafted into the military in South Korea.

Over the years, Kanye West always manages to be in the news for the wrong reasons. But this year I crossed all the limits.
Kanye grabbed headlines at Paris Fashion Week for wearing a white Vive Materia t-shirt. There was a huge backlash from several celebrities over the sartorial choice.
But a month later, out of nowhere, he made some very objectionable comments against the Jews. However, things got out of hand when he constantly defended his anti-Semitic comments as he confessed his love for Adolf Hitler.
Due to his comments, Kanye lost the 600 tag after Adidas cut all ties with the rapper. Not only this, it also has profitable deals since it lost Balenciaga, GAP.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have always managed to stay in the limelight for one reason or another. The couple recently became a top trend in the last month of this year for their Netflix documentary ‘Harry and Meghan’.

After things ended with Kanye West, Kim got close to ‘SNL’ star Pete Davidson. As the ‘Skims’ founder of New Roman grabbed the headlines, Kanye Pete was quick to hit back with his bitter comments.
After Kanye’s many threatening messages, Davidson revealed that he was “in a big part traumatized”.

Ranveer Singh
Ranveer Singh did nothing major but still got involved in a major controversy. In July, the Circus actor, who is known for his sartorial choices, chose to pose nude for a photo shoot.
Her pictures sent all the fans into a frenzy, she took off all her clothes for a photo shoot. An FIR was lodged against Singh for exposing the senses and injuring women under sections 292, 293, and 509 of the Indian Penal Code and the IT Act.

Aamir Khan made a comeback to the big screen with the most awaited movie, ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, which is arguably the most popular in the country. The film did poorly at the box office, and one of the major reasons behind the film’s debacle at the BO number is that they simultaneously announced a boycott of the film.
