Seasoned singer Janno Gibbs did not mince his words as he echoed an anonymous “showbiz” colleague who “beware” that he had gained weight.
Gibbs took to his personal Instagram page on Monday, April 3, to recall a meeting with a showbiz colleague who said he had “gained weight”, although he did not reveal his identity. In reply, he pointed out that his colleague looked old, which was not thought lightly.
“He took a showbiz colleague from before. Small talk. Then he casually said, ‘Tumaba ka ha’ (the weight has been asked). I. skip. I asked, “What? [you] do now?’ He said: ‘Oh, I have already retired.’ I answer: Oh, that’s why. Do you see the old man, who was stunned and disturbed,” he said in the photo.
“#clapback #carefulwhatyousay,” she wrote in the caption.
Gibbs’ post caught the attention of his followers, as seen in the comments section, with veteran celebrities Martin Nievera and Yayo Aguila providing support for the former’s response to the word of an anonymous colleague.
Nievera expressed how much she “hates” receiving comments about her weight, pointing out that the observation was “nonsense.” “I hate this! I get there all the time and I always ask myself how some people can be so comfortable and stupid and say such things, but I also learned that over the years and after many moments of “sculpting my head” in such comments that believe or not good, he said.
The “Fallin” singer, in response, Nievera said that the “weight gain” comment was not respectful, which he observed from his “facial expression”.

Aguila praised the singer for how he handled the comments.

Meanwhile, one @krmatias said that Gibbs responded kindly instead. And the musician applauded with “Masama ba sinabi ko (Is there something wrong that I said?)”

On the other hand, many of Gibbs’ followers seemed to take issue with how he handled the comment about his weight gain, with some describing it as “Pinoy malpractice.”
Instagram user @_iamlovedevera, “Illa tumaba ka” has always been around Pinoys. They are used to saying this phrase without being sensitive to the person who belongs to what they think is normal. Im kababayans [let’s do what] Mr. Janno did it!”
Another @ketococojam50 said “Learning… until now people” [use those] comments what they think [it’s okay] but plainly rude. Good for you, Janno. You are right. You are the best and the greatest, and you are loved and adored.’

Gibbs previously criticized the president for his sassy response to a network that criticized him for calling supporters of other politicians to “suffer” after the loss of former Vice President Leni Robredo in the May 2022 elections.
The musician is best known for his songs “Fallin”, “Pinakamagandang Lalaki”, and his rendition of “Binibini” among many others. edv
