They don’t want to have kids. in this world.’ The sky is no longer changing, we are in a climate crisis.”
While some people worry that trying to lead an eco-friendly lifestyle will be disruptive to their daily lives, Zaroff claims that’s not the case. “Part of a more conscious, toxic-free lifestyle is not about sacrifice or deprivation,” he says, “it’s about adding value.” Below, he outlines small-but-powerful ways we can all live healthier and more eco-friendly lifestyles, while also being mindful of hidden dangers and steps we can take to limit our exposure.

watch what you eat
Whether it’s gluten-free, organic, keto, or regenerative, being more aware of what we put into our bodies is “the gateway to this movement,” Zaroff said. “The first thing that changes when we change our diet and lifestyle is our blood. Our life is a system of sustenance that feeds, why would we want to put poison in our blood? Growing health awareness has driven the US organic food market in recent years with increasing environmental concerns about pesticides, chemical fertilizers, and other chemicals used in conventional agriculture.

Health alone is critical to sustainable agriculture, since the plant used to grow 95 percent of our food. “Only healthy plants make healthy plants, which makes them healthy,” Zaroff said. “Soil is a living, breathing ecosystem. Earth’s skin likes that because the skin is the largest organ in our bodies, it is our primary organ for absorption. To learn more about the importance of our soil, Zaroff suggested we all watch (or read) Kiss the Earth , which follows activists, scientists, and farmers as they turn to regenerative agriculture to try and save the Earth’s crust to fight climate change.
Beware of any beauty products
The skin is the largest organ in our bodies, and the primary organ for absorption, as Zaroff said. Because of this, he says, we are mindful of what we put on. “It’s not what we put into our bodies. What you are is not what you eat. You are also what you put on your body,” Zaroff said. “In the skin is this organ; [beauty brands] it is necessary to nourish and protect us. When you see your products…if you can’t pronounce it, don’t use it, and if you can use it, know and minimize your use. It’s not about perfection – it’s about trying to make the best choices we can every day.
Consider it Eco-friendly
Zaroff is the CEO and founder of Ecofashion Corp., which meets with brands and retailers to “build those models of agriculture for popular culture,” Zaroff said. “Cotton is one of the heaviest industries in agriculture sprayed with the worst carcinogenic chemicals…and 60 percent of the cotton plant goes back into the food stream as cottonseed oil.” What with the unregulated finishes and dyes we put on our fabrics and what we put on our skin can lead to harmful outcomes.
Remember, being Eco-friendly isn’t about overhauling your entire daily life. We all have to start somewhere, and the first step we want to take is to help the planet stay educated by helping them do things they can do better.
