Augusta, Ga. — Play continues at Augusta National Golf Club early Saturday morning as the 2023 Masters aims to complete 54 holes — or at least as many — as inclement weather is expected to visit the nation’s oldest course for the second straight day. Follow teachers leaderboard coverage with live updates throughout the day. Featuring a star-studded field of the best golfers in the world, the 87th Masters game is not without a long list of stories to follow throughout the weekend.
Chief among them is a Brooks Koepka will rise again, who raised the club lead to 12 in the first half of the season with a crystal clear, three shots ahead of Jon Rahm and four amateur Sam Bennett of Texas A&M. Kopeka, who finished 55th or worse in all four majors in 2022, is looking to win his fifth such title while closing out one of his two remaining career bigs. While he hasn’t won a major since 2019, his health and head space seem to have healed to where he’ll be able to go after the big dogs this weekend.
Rahm opens Saturday with the entire second nine of Round 2 left to play and an ample opportunity to meet Koepka on the leaderboard before Round 3 begins. Meanwhile, Maro’s stellar play has moved him four shots off the lead as he seeks to become the first amateur to win the green jacket.
This week was not a big game for the three names. Scottie Scheffler, the reigning champion, played himself out of contention. Rory McIlroy’s quest to to finish the course with great pains at Augusta National he failed again in three years when the Ulsterman perished. Five-time Masters champion Tiger Woods is teetering on the cut with seven holes left to complete the second round. Woods is aiming to make the streak for his 23rd consecutive Masters, which would tie him all-time.

Jim Nantz, in his 38th consecutive year covering the Masters, is serving the team’s 36th season. 2008 Masters champion Trevor Immelman joins Nantz as the lead analyst for the Masters for the first time.
